Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment in Barrie

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is caused by repetitive motion, such as typing, texting, or performing assembly line work. Over time, such actions may produce pain and injury as the median nerve becomes compressed. Most people with CTS experience tingling or numbness in the fingers or hand or weakness in the hand.

What many don’t realize is the cause of their wrist problem may be due to functional changes to one or more joints in the neck, shoulder, elbow, or wrist.

Our Natural Approach

We will provide gentle chiropractic care or physiotherapy to address the problematic wrist and elbow, as well as adjust your upper spine. It also may be advisable to rest the affected arm, apply cold to decrease inflammation and perform specific exercises. You also can wear a splint or brace to immobilize the area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I wear a wrist brace for my CTS?

A brace is often prescribed to help protect the wrist and keep it immobilized. While it may alleviate some symptoms, wearing a brace doesn’t address the malfunctioning joints that are causing the problem. Chiropractic care addresses the root cause.

How many visits will I need?

It’s important to know that not everyone is going to see a difference in one visit. Depending on your case, your practitioner may recommend a few visits over a number of weeks, and reassess your progress over time.

Should I try conservative treatment before considering surgery for my Carpal Tunnel?

It is recommended that conservative therapies such as Chiropractic care or Physiotherapy be attempted prior to carpal tunnel surgery.  Since the effects of surgery are not easily reversed, it’s advisable to try all other options before performing surgery.
